COACHING FOR FATHERS
YOUR KIDS DON’T NEED A PERFECT DAD.
Being a good father isn’t about getting everything right. It’s about showing up. Being intentional with your time. Building relationships with your kids while they’re still under your roof. Leading through your actions. And becoming the kind of man you want your children to learn from.
I’ve spent more than 17 years as a stay-at-home dad, raised two kids of my own, and worked with fathers who want to become more intentional about how they show up at home. You don’t need to become a completely different dad. You may just need to become more deliberate about being the dad you already want to be.
They need you present.
THE YEARS MOVE FAST
SOMEDAY, YOU’RE GOING TO MISS THIS VERSION OF YOUR LIFE.
There will be a last time you carry your child upstairs. A last bedtime story. A last Saturday morning game. A last school pickup. Eventually, they’ll stop asking you to play. And one day, the house gets quieter. Most dads know this. The problem isn’t that we don’t love our kids. The problem is how easy it is to let work, phones, responsibilities, stress, hobbies, and everything else consume the time we thought we’d have more of. Fatherhood doesn’t need more guilt. It needs intention.
THE PRESENT DAD
BE PRESENT. BE INTENTIONAL. BE ROOTED IN PURPOSE.
BE PRESENT
Being physically home isn’t the same as being present.
Put the phone down.
Listen.
Play.
Ask questions.
Pay attention.
Be where your feet are.
BE INTENTIONAL
Great relationships with your kids rarely happen accidentally.
Create traditions.
Schedule time together.
Know what’s happening in their lives.
Have the conversations.
Do the things you keep saying you’ll do “someday.”
BE ROOTED IN PURPOSE
Your children are watching more than they’re listening.
How you take care of yourself.
How you treat their mother.
How you handle failure.
How you work.
How you apologize.
How you treat other people.
How you live when nobody is applauding.
Fatherhood isn’t only about what you teach. It’s also about what you model.
THE REALITY OF FATHERHOOD
YOU CAN PROVIDE EVERYTHING AND STILL MISS WHAT MATTERS.
Providing for your family matters.
So does being there for them.
A lot of good men get caught in the same trap.
“I’ll have more time when work settles down.”
“After this project.”
“After this promotion.”
“After this busy season.”
“Next weekend.”
But life doesn’t usually become less busy on its own.
You have to decide what gets your attention.
Your calendar tells the truth about your priorities.
If your family is one of your highest priorities, your time should eventually reflect it.
1:1 FATHERHOOD COACHING
BECOME MORE INTENTIONAL ABOUT THE DAD YOU WANT TO BE.
Fatherhood coaching isn’t about me telling you how to raise your kids. Every family is different.
Instead, we look at the father you want to be, how you’re currently showing up, what’s getting in the way, and what you want to change.
Depending on your situation, we may work on:
PRESENCE
Being mentally and emotionally present instead of simply physically nearby.
CONNECTION
Strengthening your individual relationship with each child.
TIME
Creating space for the people you say matter most.
COMMUNICATION
Listening better, asking better questions, and having conversations that matter.
TRADITIONS & EXPERIENCES
Creating memories, rituals, adventures, and one-on-one time that strengthen relationships.
HEALTH
Taking care of yourself so you have the energy and longevity to participate fully in your family’s life.
DISCIPLINE & HABITS
Following through on the commitments you make to yourself and your family.
LEADERSHIP
Understanding that your behavior often teaches more than your advice.
PURPOSE
Being intentional about the values you want your children to experience through the way you live.
MARRIAGE & PARTNERSHIP
Looking at how you show up as a partner and how that affects the environment your children grow up in.
These are areas we may explore, not promises of specific outcomes.

WHY FATHERHOOD?
FATHERHOOD CHANGED THE DIRECTION OF MY LIFE.
I’ve spent more than 17 years as a stay-at-home dad. When my wife Shelly’s career began taking off, our family made a decision that wasn’t necessarily traditional. I stepped away from my career and became the parent primarily responsible for raising our kids.
That meant school drop-offs. Practices. Homework. Activities. Doctors. Meals. Bad days. Great days. Arguments. Conversations. Mistakes. Growing up.And thousands of completely ordinary moments that I now realize weren’t ordinary at all.
My kids taught me something important:Presence isn’t something your children need someday. They need it while they’re growing up.
I’ve gotten plenty wrong as a father. I’ve also had the opportunity to spend an extraordinary amount of time learning what it means to be one. That experience eventually became something I wanted to share with other dads. Not because I have fatherhood completely figured out. But because I know how much it matters.
IF YOUR KIDS DESCRIBED YOU 20 YEARS FROM NOW, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT THEM TO SAY?
Not what did you buy them? Not what title did you have? Not how many hours did you work? What did it feel like to have you as their dad? Were you there? Did you listen? Did they know you? Did you know them? Did they feel like they mattered? Those are the questions worth thinking about now — while you still have time to influence the answers.
